SLA has provided performing arts interpreters since it’s founding in 1982. Janet Bailey, SLA's President and Founder, is a pioneer in the field of theatrical interpreting and is among only ten interpreters in the country to hold a specialist certificate in Performing Arts Interpreting from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. (RID).
SLA's Cultural Access Program (CAP) offers area venues not only our combined years of experience and enthusiasm for the arts, but access to the best performing arts interpreters anywhere.
With 24 years of experience, SLA's Performing Arts specialists will help you make your productions accessible to your Deaf and hard of hearing audiences. Our interpreters have been seen on stages throughout the nation. From Shakespeare to Barney, Broadway to Community Theater, Fleetwood Mac to American Idol, and Patti LaBelle, we’ve done it all!
All it takes is one call to SLA.
- An SLA Performing Arts Interpreter team will be scheduled.
- They’ll be well rehearsed when the curtain goes up.
- SLA will work with stage managers & crew to place the interpreter in the correct location.
- SLA will help you spread the word about your interpreted shows by adding them to our web site.
