SLA has welcomed over 200 participants to our Mentorship Program. This competitive program has brought interpreters from all across the country to Washington, DC for a 12-16 week session.
Please keep in mind that our summer session is the shortest session and always attracts the most candidates.

SLA Mentorship Application
As part of your Mentorship application, you will need to submit a 3-5 minute introduction in English, a 3-5 minute introduction in ASL, a 20 minute interpreting sample of sign-to-voice, and a 20 minute interpreting sample of voice-to-sign.
SLA’s video application guidelines will lead you through the videotaping process and will include the following considerations:
- Choosing Language Sources
- Warm Up
- Target Language
- Video Production
Please note, all videotaped submissions will become the property of SLA and will not be returned.
